Good morning you Hoopy Froods!!

Hope you are all having an excellent Towel Day.

Douglas Adams and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy were so important to me growing up.  It was probably the first time that I had laughed at science fiction, up until that point I had been scared by Doctor Who or intrigued by Star Trek; but I’d never laughed at it until h2g2.  That really sparked my interest in the genre and, as I say in the video, I went on to read more works of Science Fiction.  I’ve become something of a lazy sci-fi fan recently, preferring to get my fix from watching films and television rather than reading.  This will have to change.

Life is a series of choices, where we get to is the result of them.  I am where I am today because I read these books and listened to the radio show.  I am about to complete a degree in Audio Engineering and have a particular fondness for sound design thanks to growing up watching science fiction films and listening to radio shows.  Without the Hitchhikers Guide I wouldn’t be here doing this.

I have been lucky to have the support of some tremendous friends throughout my life, friends I’ve met through common interests, friends who tend towards the geeky side of life.  Well read and intelligent people who I would not have met had the works of Douglas Adams not opened me up to a wider world of comedic fantasy and science fiction, and introduced me to writers like Pratchett and Gaiman.

Geeks and Nerds of the world, go out and enjoy your day!

Until next time,

Take care and Be Excellent To Each Other

Howdy folks,

For those who are unaware of the significance of Towel Day tomorrow, I have made a short video of me espousing the benefits of the towel direct from the Hitch Hikers Guide to The Galaxy.

Enjoy, and tune back in on May 25th for a Special Towel Day episode of NerdVsWorld

Until then,

Take care, and Be Excellent to Each Other

Just had this pointed in my direction by @dmcsound (Thanks Boss!)
NERDS YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE!!

In 1 minute and 12 seconds I went from not having heard of it, to pre-ordering it.  Probably the quickest impulse purchase I have ever made (second only to Skyrim)

In other news, Towel Day episode of NerdVsWorld is looking awesome; can’t wait until tomorrow to share it with you all.

Until next time,

Take care and Be Excellent to Each Other

Howdy folks, just a picture of me and a newly made Towel Elephant.  This Friday’s episode of NerdVsWorld will be a special Towel Day episode.  Tune in later this week to learn how to make my faithful blue companion, and a couple more creatures.  I’ll throw some headlines in there too, but mostly it will be me making towel animals and talking on my love of Sci-Fi.

Episode 4: Extra Nerd

Hello Interwebs!

Episode 4 is now up online.  If you haven’t seen it yet then fear not, through the magic of the ‘net I am able to provide you with “a handy text based link that will open the vid up in a new window”
You can go and watch it and then come back, it’s ok.

This episode was a lot of fun to film, it’s getting easier the more I do it.  One of these days I’ll be perfect.  There are some things that didn’t make the cut and, as is now my custom, I shall talk about here.

1) More Avengers Froth!!  I just don’t get tired of talking about, or reading about, this film.  I’m already counting down until next year for Iron Man 3 and Thor 2.  News that I filmed, but which got cut, were rumours that Whedon was looking to address the gender bias in the next Avengers; with potential characters being Wasp or Ms. Marvel.  We filmed a wonderful set for this actually, but then it devolved into what can only be described as NSFW (wait for the Bloopers Reel at the end of the series) There was also some rambling about old school anthropomorphised animal shows (Gentle Ben, Flipper, Lassie, Skippy)
No matter how hard I tried I could’t deliver the gender bias news story properly after that. Kind of glad I didn’t, because after shooting it turned out that Joss isn’t sure whether he wants to do the sequel.  Are you deliberately trying to make me cry Mr.Whedon?!?!

2) Fall 2012 Schedules!! So sad to see so many shows go, couldn’t remember all of them so I know that I missed a few.  I also might have been a bit vague about things too, so let’s clarify a few points.

i) Yes, I know Game of Thrones is currently on our screens in its second season; what I was hoping to get across is that it has been renewed for a third season run. (YAY!!)
ii) Yes, I’m genuinely confused as to why Vampire Diaries and 2 Broke Girls are getting renewed.
iii) Sorry for referring to Green Arrow’s contribution to Smallville as a “small part”, the truth his is character made that show more watchable.
iv) There are other new shows like 666 Park Avenue and The Neighbors which might satisfy fans of the unusual and supernatural.

3) Keeping with the theme of cancelled shows, there was a very very good blog this week on the SFX Site by Steven Ellis on how many TV shows aren’t being given enough of a chance to bed themselves in before being axed. Alcatraz, for example, has only had one season, but now it’s gone. Read the blog, it’s absolutely brilliant.  You can do it by clicking HERE!! CLICK ME!! CLICK ME!!

Hope you enjoyed the show, thanks to everyone for your continued support. Remember to subscribe, like and share.

Until next time,

King of the Web! A Charity Campaign

Not me, I’m not running, I’ve only just started casting.  But I’ll tell you who is running, Dodger from Press Heart 2 Continue and Coffeh Time.  I’ve been a fan of her shows since October/November last year, and have discovered a lot more cool youtube programming through her channel.  Infact, it was through watching her shows, and the Felicia Day and Kevin Smith Nerd Herd panels from SDCC’11, that I got up the confidence to get of my ass and start doing my own show.  Nerd VS World is in it’s infancy, but who knows.. next year I could be running for this.

Right now though I’m not, but Dodger is and she needs your votes to stay in 1st Place.  So go to her page by clicking “on this magical textual portal to a separate Interwebs Page” and cast your vote.

Until next time

Take care, and be excellent to each other
